His Design

To design something is to create, fashion, execute, or construct according to plan. It is to conceive and plan out in the mind. It is to have as a purpose.[1]

A designer makes something a certain way for a specific reason. I’ve learned this lesson repeatedly. It isn’t until you’ve messed with someone’s original design of their Artwork and paid the consequences for doing so, that you realize the designer of his piece was right all along.

When my flaws are exposed and I recognize that I am in the wrong by trying to mess with their design, I confess—well, my lack of trust in the designer. I admit—well, I’ve obviously got some blind spots for presuming that I could change one of the most essential parts of their design. By trying to change this one vital part that seemed unimportant to me, I could have affected their entire creation.

Much of the world values designers like Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Christian Dior. They’ve placed their trust in them, so much so that they wear what they make and display their products faithfully. Their belief in these designers has grown over the years, as they’ve learned about and experienced the quality of their items.

Yet, there are few people who know and value the Ultimate Designer of all life; of all creation, God. As a result, like I attempted, many men and women are messing with the Grand Designer’s original design for them. It is not unusual now to hear about the consequences of not trusting in our Creator.

  • Today, men and women are confused about their gender identity. The world is responding to this reality by avoiding the truth about what God says in the Bible about this matter, and enabling people to continue in sin and live a lie. God is not a God of confusion. He is a God of peace. We as Christians must help the next generation and our generation return to their one and only true God; their Ultimate Designer. In Jesus Christ, their true identity can be restored. In Him, there is no confusion—there is freedom to be who He made us to be for His glory.
  • Abortion Laws and Policies are now in place that are inhumane at their core. They are twisted and disturbing, as they celebrate sin and death. God is not a God of the dead. He is a God of Life. He created life, and He has a purpose for each of our lives. When mankind attempts to mess with His design, they are doomed for destruction. When humanity has gone so far as to deliberately destroy God’s creation, he must confess that he is lost. He is fallen. He is in desire need of a Savior. The only way in which he can be saved is through Jesus Christ who died for his sins on the cross and rose from the dead so that he might have eternal life in Him.
  • Men and women who are not married are living together. Society has embraced this sin and even qualified it as a “common law marriage,” after a certain period. Marriage between a couple in Christ is God’s design. Cohabitation is adultery. God is a God of Holiness. He hates sin. He came to earth so that we might be set free from the power of sin and darkness—we need to run to Jesus Christ for salvation.

I speak from a perspective of living life my way and being bound in sin, in following a counterfeit design for a long time. Now, as I experience Life in Jesus Christ—abiding in Him, I am learning to be in harmony with my Creator. When I fall short, God’s grace meets me. He draws me back and helps me to trust that He is my Designer, and He knows what He is doing. His design is good. In this process, we discover that we truly were made to be in fellowship with Him. By His Grace, we can learn to know that He is God.

There is a reason why He made me a woman.

There is a reason why women can reproduce physical and spiritual life.

There is a reason why women are called to marry a man who walks with and loves Jesus. Though not perfect, this man can be like and love her like Jesus loves the Church—because he himself has received the love of God in Him.

On a minute and national level, we must all surrender to our Ultimate Designer, God. Right now, much of His creation is wandering off into faraway lands in their minds and hearts not knowing who they are because they don’t know Him. He does not want us to remain lost and in the dark. He does not want us to live a lie. He wants us to have life in Him and to walk in truth and freedom. He wants us to trust Him.

If you feel lost—like you don’t know who you are or what your purpose is or where you are going, I encourage you to pray to God at this moment. Acknowledge who He is—God. Recognize that you are lost and you need Him. You now know that you are in the wrong and He is right. Though you may not understand His design or why it is the way it is yet, surrender and trust that He is Good. Restoration to His original design for us begins with repentance, a turning away from our sins and a turning to the cross, where Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose from the dead so that we might have eternal life in Him. Through the power of His Word and the Holy Spirit, God as your Ultimate Designer can help you to trust in His intentions for you and all of creation.

In His timing; if you continue to trust and obey Him, you can begin to display the One who made you—because…who He is, is in His design.
